Peter Braad Olesen to become CEO of Bankdata

Peter Braad Olesen takes over a historically strong Bankdata and, as the new CEO, will continue the company’s strategic direction. He succeeds Esben Kolind Laustrup, who is pursuing a new opportunity.

This summer, Esben Kolind Laustrup will step down as CEO of Bankdata, and the Board of Directors has therefore been searching for a new CEO. The choice has fallen on Bankdata’s current Deputy CEO, Peter Braad Olesen.

“Bankdata has never had a stronger competitive position than it does now, and we must capitalise on that. We have no doubt that Peter is the right CEO to take Bankdata to the next level. At the same time, I would like to emphasise that the Board has been highly satisfied with Bankdata’s development under Esben Kolind Laustrup’s leadership,” says John Fisker, Chairman of the Board at Bankdata.

Momentum must be maintained
Since joining from McKinsey & Co. in 2025, Peter Braad Olesen has been one of two members of Bankdata’s Executive Management. His appointment has therefore ensured timely continuity at Bankdata.

“In recent months, we have concretised our 2028 strategy. So the course is set. We are now facing strategy implementation, an ambitious development roadmap, and major tasks as we migrate Arbejdernes Landsbank and Vestjysk Bank to Bankdata. It is crucial that we maintain our momentum,” states Peter Braad Olesen.

“Bankdata is in a historically strong position. Culturally, organisationally, and technologically, but also in the market, where the formation of AL Sydbank means that Bankdata will gain significant market share. This creates substantial economies of scale, strengthening the competitiveness of all the banks on the Bankdata platform.”

Esben Kolind Laustrup joined Bankdata in 2019 after a career at, among others, TDC and JP/Politikens Hus.

“It is, of course, regrettable that Esben is leaving Bankdata, where he has had strong support from both customers and employees. He has indisputable qualities as a leader and as a person, and he has truly developed Bankdata into one of the country’s leading tech companies,” says Peter Braad Olesen.

Bankdata develops digital products for seven Danish banks. Founded in 1966, Bankdata today has more than 1,000 employees at its offices in Fredericia, Silkeborg, and Aarhus. Bankdata is owned by Jyske Bank, Ringkjøbing Landbobank, SJF Bank, Skjern Bank, Djurslands Bank, Kreditbanken, and AL Sydbank.
