Bankdata has appointed André Steensen as the new Senior Director for Customer Relation. He will spearhead the development of digital solutions that support the daily interactions between bank advisors and customers at the eight financial institutions served by Bankdata. These institutions include Sydbank and Jyske Bank and together serve nearly one in three Danish banking customers.
“André Steensen has repeatedly proven his ability to build and lead strong teams. Over the past two years, he has also demonstrated that he can foster strong, trust-based relationships with our clients — even in a highly complex and high-stakes area,” says Rune Lippert, Senior Vice President at Bankdata.
Mountain stages and millions of lines of code
In addition to a successful career at Bankdata, André Steensen has a background as a professional cyclist for Bjarne Riis’ Team CSC-Saxo Bank and as a sports director for Team CULT Energy Pro Cycling. He notably coached Denmark’s most successful cyclist, Mads Pedersen, when he won the world championship in 2019.
“A major development task is, in many ways, like climbing a mountain in a cycling peloton. At first glance, it looks overwhelming, and along the way you’ll face challenges that make you question whether you’ll succeed. But instead of focusing on everything that lies ahead, the leader must help the team break the ‘mountain’ down into smaller goals. That way, you stay focused on what’s right in front of you and get that motivating sense of progress by solving manageable problems,” says André Steensen.
“It requires putting together the right team — people who can break complex solutions into incremental deliveries. You get strong team dynamics when you combine experienced profiles who are eager to share knowledge with ambitious younger talents.”
New initiative to strengthen banks’ customer relations
As Senior Director for Customer Relation, he will be leading the development of digital tools that support daily customer engagement across the eight financial institutions that rely on Bankdata’s digital products. His first major task is the development of an entirely new customer relationship platform.
“The new platform will help bank advisors provide a more personalized service to customers. For Bankdata, it’s about making it easy for the advisor to identify potential leads and to track customer opportunities — whether it’s a customer who could benefit from refinancing to a cheaper loan, or someone who needs financing for a new boat,” he says.
The platform will be rolled out to the banks next year.
Bankdata is owned by eight Danish banks, including Sydbank, Jyske Bank, and Ringkjøbing Landbobank. The company builds payment solutions, advisor systems, and customer channels, and employs 1,000 people at offices in Fredericia, Silkeborg, and Aarhus.
