As Bankdata continues to strengthen its technological platform, the organization is adding strong leadership capacity to a central part of the business. Brian Søndergaard Nielsen joins as Area Lead for the newly established division Platform & Developer Enablement – with a mandate to drive the cloud journey, enhance architecture, and create the best conditions for developers.

“Brian is an exceptional IT talent who also aligns with our values – especially team spirit, community, and the belief that people need to live whole lives, where ambitions and needs evolve over time. He believes that the best results come from an inclusive culture that embraces both diversity and high aspirations,” says Bankdata's Chief Technology Officer, Kenneth Fiil.

Driving positive change through technology
Brian Søndergaard Nielsen has been deeply engaged in financial IT throughout his career. He holds a degree in Computer Science from Aarhus Business College and has held several roles at Danske Bank – including as one of the first developers on the programme that led to the launch of MobilePay. Most recently, he served as Director of Technology for Core Banking, Architecture & Payments at Lunar Bank.

“I spent five years at Lunar, and from a leadership perspective I achieved the goals I set on day one: We became domain-driven and organizationally scalable, reached one million customers, and became an international company across the Nordics. I was therefore ready for a new challenge in a larger organisation with more complexity and a clear focus on driving positive change in banking through technology.”

“Bankdata is a perfect fit – where values like community and supporting the whole person go hand in hand with a clear passion for progress through technological innovation and a strong customer focus rooted in deep banking insight,” says Brian Søndergaard Nielsen.

A strong setup for the future of development
Platform & Developer Enablement is a newly established division at Bankdata. It brings together teams working on cloud, architecture, and developer tools – including the Cloud Center of Excellence – with the goal of boosting productivity and creating an even better experience for developers.

“In the short term, one of our key missions is to move several services into the public cloud. It’s a journey I’ve been on before, when we transitioned MobilePay from mainframe to cloud. In addition, we will continue working to make everyday life easier for developers, so we can keep delivering new products to customers at high speed,” says Brian Søndergaard Nielsen.

Bankdata is owned by eight Danish banks, including Sydbank, Jyske Bank, and Ringkjøbing Landbobank. The company builds payment solutions, advisor systems, and customer channels, and employs 1,000 people at offices in Fredericia, Silkeborg, and Aarhus.
