Bankdata has appointed Birthe Boysen as the new Vice President for Data Platforms & Analytics. With more than 25 years of experience in transforming data into business insights and growth, she will take Bankdata’s data work to the next level.

As one of Denmark’s largest fintech companies, Bankdata develops IT solutions for eight Danish banks. The appointment of Birthe Boysen supports Bankdata’s strategic ambition to use data as a foundation for both innovation and partnerships. She brings experience from the shipping, offshore, and financial sectors.

“If you had asked me five years ago whether I could see myself working at a data center, I would have said no. But in recent years, I’ve heard so much about Bankdata’s technical and strategic transformation. The company is clearly aiming to redefine how data centers handle data – and I couldn’t say no to being part of that,” says Birthe Boysen.

Meaningful Data – Not Just Process Support
Birthe Boysen’s role will be to ensure that Bankdata’s data capabilities align with future business needs. That means focusing not just on process support but also on data that provides insight.

“If we want to help banks to better understand, for example, why customers decline car loans, we need data that explains why they decline – not just data that completes a case,” she says.

She also highlights the need to create coherence in data across systems and departments – and to establish a shared understanding of what data actually means. This requires clear definitions, governance mechanisms, and a culture where everyone – from leadership to developers – understands why data matters.

A Strategic Move
Birthe Boysen will join the Technology & Developer Enablement division, where Senior Vice President Kenneth Fiil looks forward to the collaboration:

“Data is one of the cornerstones of our own and our banks’ technology strategies. It’s a crucial source of competitive advantage, and its importance is only increasing with growing regulatory demands, risk management complexity, and emerging opportunities within AI and advanced analytics,” he says.

“Birthe has proven she can turn complex data into concrete, value-creating business solutions. She has a strong track record of leading large transformation projects and attracting, developing, and retaining top talent. I’m proud that we’ve been able to attract a profile like Birthe to Bankdata.”

Bankdata is owned by eight Danish banks, including Sydbank, Jyske Bank, and Ringkjøbing Landbobank. The company builds payment solutions, advisor systems, and customer channels, and employs 1,000 people at offices in Fredericia, Silkeborg, and Aarhus.
