“The purpose of the new unit is to gather knowledge and competencies in one place so we can develop and operate our platforms more efficiently. Infrastructure is an area where the pace is high, and we need to strengthen our ownership to deliver stable and future-proof solutions,” says Ronni Laursen, Senior Director and newly appointed Head of Infrastructure & Cloud Hosting.

Focus on mainframe and cloud
The mainframe remains a strategic platform for Bankdata and continues to be critical for core banking services. Ronni sees significant potential in making the platform even stronger.

“We already stand on a solid foundation, but we want to consolidate and standardize even more. It’s about ensuring the platform’s long-term sustainability and about creating attractive conditions for the specialists working on it,” he explains.

At the same time, cloud technology is becoming an increasingly important part of Bankdata’s strategy. Moving more workloads to the cloud is seen as a way to boost efficiency, scalability and innovation, while also ensuring compliance and security.

“Cloud should be simple, compliant and effective. Our ambition is to offer a one-stop shop for infrastructure services, where ordering a server in the cloud comes bundled with network setup, access control and the right environment configuration,” says Ronni Laursen.

Strengthening defenses and securing the future
In today’s geopolitical environment, technological resilience and security are more important than ever.

“Generally, in the industry, we are seeing an increase in cyber-attacks, which requires strengthened DDoS protection," says Ronni Laursen. “We are reinforcing our defenses to ensure our platforms remain stable and secure. Clear roles and the ability to act fast are essential, and the new structure gives us the mandate and framework to deliver on that.”

The consolidation also creates opportunities to optimize operations and reduce complexity across infrastructure. By standardizing processes and leveraging shared tools, Bankdata expects to build a more resilient technological backbone.

“Our job is to ensure that Bankdata’s infrastructure is robust and future-proof. By consolidating our expertise and strengthening our defenses, we are preparing the ground for faster development and more resilient solutions for our banks,” concludes Ronni Laursen.

Bankdata develops digital products for eight Danish banks, which jointly own the company. Nearly one in three Danish bank customers use Bankdata’s products, which include mobile and online banking, card payment solutions, and systems for capital markets trading. Founded in 1966, Bankdata today has more than 1,000 employees across offices in Fredericia, Silkeborg, and Aarhus.
